Take advantage of this week to immerse yourself in the alpine environment of the destination and work on the requested main
task.
The focus of this project is on developing a 'four-season' tourism product in connection with a theme that each group will select (see organizational details below). The themes to choose from
include:
The themes can be mixed upon your creativity for the product you wish to propose.
Main Task 1.1 : Create a product
Create a 'four-season' tourism product related to the theme chosen by your group for this region. You may choose a defined destination in Valais or a multi-destination approach as for the theme
of your product.
Main Task 1.2 : Target segment
Define the target segment for the product developed by your group. Consider socio-demographic, economic, behavioral, and geographical criteria, as well as any other relevant factors.
Mais Task 1.3 : Positioning statement
Develop a positioning statement for your product, directed at the chosen target audience, the strength of your idea as well as the potential competition you may identify.
Main Task 1.4 : Promotional Video
Create a 20 to 60 seconds’ promotional video to convey your message and make your strategy clear for your product to your chosen audience.
The goal of this task is to challenge participants to develop innovative and sustainable four-season tourism products that can reduce the dependency on seasonal tourism in dependant destinations. Through this exercise, teams will learn how to diversify tourism offerings, target specific market segments, and create value year-round. The task also aims to strengthen skills in product positioning, promotional communication, and the incorporation of digital elements to enhance market appeal. Ultimately, the goal is to contribute to local economic growth, job creation, and the sustainable development of tourism destinations.
Each group is asked to name a group representative (spokesperson) that will be in contact with the group of teachers, including for the tutorial meetings.
Each group will give the following elements to the organization by Monday evening just before the Int’l fair at the latest :
The themes will be validated for each group by Monday night or Tuesday morning at the latest.
Each group will have a maximum of 10 minutes to present, followed by 3 minutes for questions and answers. There will be 2 minutes allocated for the transition between groups, making a total time per group of 15 minutes. Presentations will take place in Sierre, on Friday November 22nd 2024.
Prepare a clear visual presentation of your product, target segment and positioning. The format should be a set of slides (pptx or pdf), to support your presentation. Keep the design simple and clear, using a readable font (e.g., dark text on a light background) with minimal text on each slide. Pictures and animations are encouraged but should not be overused.
For your 20 to 60 seconds promotional video, use a recognized format (i.e. .mp4, .move). Include this video in your presentation to make your time on stage more efficient.
The presentation will have to be sent per e-mail to by November 22th at noon.
Please indicate your group number in the presentation !
